How to use this page
Each word is given as the screens use it, with what it means and the guide that covers it in full. The words are in alphabetical order, in four runs. Where Tally has its own word for the same thing, it is given too.
Looking for something that is not a single word? Type it in the box at the top of the guides.
Business to draft
| Word | What it means | In full |
|---|---|---|
| Business | What you open when you create your account, and what your people are invited to. It has one owner, its own people and its own linked computer, and it holds one or more companies | Your account |
| Company | One company from Tally. Each has its own books, bills and reports in Orzoni. A business holds as many as its plan covers | Several companies |
| Connector | Something Orzoni is joined to. Connectors in the rail holds two: Tally, for the books, and Shopify, for your online store. It is not the same as the Tally connector, below | Find your way around |
| Count | How many of a listing your store shows at one of its locations. Orzoni works out what it should be from Tally. Counts go one way only, from Tally to the store | Keep your store's counts in step |
| Data health | The view under Connectors, Tally that gives one answer on whether the figures in Orzoni agree with Tally, names anything that needs you, and lists the details left to put right | Data health |
| Day book | Every entry in your books, of every kind, newest first. It is under Accounts | Invoices, bills and the Day book |
| Draft | A bill kept in Orzoni, waiting to be sent. It is not in Tally, and it is in no figure, list or report until you send it | Drafts |
Entry to location
| Word | What it means | In full |
|---|---|---|
| Entry | One thing in your books: a sales invoice, a purchase bill, a payment, a credit or debit note, a journal. Tally calls it a voucher. One made in Orzoni goes into Tally as an ordinary entry | Invoices, bills and the Day book |
| Follow-up | A note of asking a customer for money they owe: how you asked, what was said, and the day they promised to pay. Follow-ups is the collections diary. It is kept in Orzoni and never sent to Tally | Tasks and follow-ups |
| Free days | A business's first 7 days, counted from the day it was opened. Everything is included, for up to three companies, and no card is asked for | Plan and billing |
| From your Tally books | A mark beside a screen's title. The screen is worked out from your Tally books, and nothing on it changes them | Find your way around |
| Godown | Tally's word for a place stock is kept. Orzoni calls it a warehouse under Stock, and a location under Settings | Warehouses and pack sizes |
| In step with Tally | Everything has been read from Tally, and every balance in Orzoni matches Tally's own. While it is so, the rail says nothing about Tally: there is nothing to say | How Orzoni stays in step with Tally |
| Item | A stock item in your Tally company: something you buy, keep and sell. One added in Orzoni goes into Tally, and one added in Tally appears in Orzoni | Items |
| Ledger | An account in your Tally books, kept under a group and carrying a balance: a customer, a supplier, a bank account, a sales account, an expense | Accounts |
| Linked | Said of the computer that runs Tally once it has been joined to your business with its six-character code. From then on it hands your books up, and your books open in Orzoni on any device | Connect Tally and link the computer |
| Listing | One thing your Shopify store sells: a product, or one variant of a product, such as a size or a colour. A listing is matched to the item it is in Tally | Match your store's listings |
| Location | A place you keep stock. Settings, Locations lists each by its name in Tally and, once a store is connected, the location on Shopify it is linked to | Locations |
Needs a look to role
| Word | What it means | In full |
|---|---|---|
| Needs a look | Something is wrong and wants a person: an entry Tally refused, an entry that did not land as sent, or figures that differ from Tally. The line under it says which | How Orzoni stays in step with Tally |
| Only in Orzoni | A mark beside a screen's title. What is on the screen is kept in Orzoni and never sent to Tally | Find your way around |
| Owner | Whoever opened the business. There is one owner, who can do everything. It is not a role that is given: the owner hands the business over | Users and roles |
| Pack size | A size that an item kept loose is sold in, such as packs of 10, 25 and 50, so that one count is kept of the item | Warehouses and pack sizes |
| Party | A customer or a supplier. In Tally a customer is a ledger under Sundry Debtors, and a supplier is a ledger under Sundry Creditors | Customers and suppliers |
| Permission | One thing a person may do, as a single switch under What they can do, such as Make bills and record payments. There are fourteen | Users and roles |
| Plan | What a business pays for by the month once its free days are over: One company, or Up to three companies. It renews by itself until it is stopped | Plan and billing |
| Proforma | A quote. It goes into Tally as an optional entry and stays out of your books until you make it a regular bill | Make a sales invoice |
| Rail | The indigo list of places down the left side of the screen on a computer. A phone has tabs along the foot and a menu, opened from the three lines at the top right, in its place | Find your way around |
| Refused | Tally would not take an entry. It is kept in Orzoni with what Tally said, and it is not in your books until you put it right and send it again, or drop it | When a bill is waiting or refused |
| Role | A named set of permissions to start from. There are seven: Owner, Admin, Accountant, Billing staff, Stock keeper, Attendance and View only | Users and roles |
Segment to workspace
| Word | What it means | In full |
|---|---|---|
| Segment | A list of customers, or of products, that match conditions you choose. It is worked out from your books every time you open it, and changes nothing in them | Segments |
| Six checks | Six figures set against Tally's own after every read: ledger balances, stock quantities, stock value item by item, net profit since books began, unpaid bills bill by bill, and bills plus on-account making the balance. Data health shows them under Set against Tally | Data health |
| Syncs with Tally | A mark beside a screen's title, and beside Books in the rail. What you add or change there goes into your Tally books | Find your way around |
| Tally connector | The small Windows program on the computer that runs Tally. It reads your books from Tally, hands what changed up to Orzoni, and sends into Tally what you make in Orzoni. In Windows it is named Orzoni | The Tally connector on your computer |
| To check | Said of a store's listing. An item in Tally has been put forward for it, and a person should look before approving. It stands beside Certain and No item | Match your store's listings |
| To look at in Tally | An entry reached Tally, but Tally holds something different from what was sent. Data health lists it, with the entry to compare | Data health |
| Waiting for Tally | Nothing is wrong, and Orzoni is waiting: Tally is closed, the computer that runs Tally is offline, or something you made has not gone in yet. What waits goes in by itself. It is also the name of the view under Connectors, Tally that lists everything on its way | When a bill is waiting or refused |
| Warehouse | A place stock is kept, with what it holds and what that is worth. Tally calls it a godown | Warehouses and pack sizes |
| Workspace | The group in the rail that holds To do and Team: tasks, follow-ups, attendance and payroll. All of it is kept in Orzoni and never sent to Tally | Tasks and follow-ups |
